The Altered Portrait Series is a body of work that explores the relationship among the photographer, the adolescent, and the viewer. The adolescent subjects were photographed using a simple backdrop. The following day they received a print and were told to hold onto the it for about a week. Keeping in mind that the photo would be displayed in a gallery, they were permitted to alter it as they desired. These photographs are a small sample from the larger series. This exhibit was on display at the McLean County Arts Center in Bloomington, IL in 2015.
